When I moved to the mainland, a priority of mine was to find a Christian Community that I could support and be supported by. Mark came to speak at the Christian Union, and I was touched and challenged by his talk, his kindness, and his genuineness. I went to MBC not long after, and being welcomed with open arms is an understatement.

The church is welcoming and warm, and genuinely wants to build a relationship with you. The church has been so kind to me and the other students by giving us a lift every Sunday, making sure we are all fed, and most importantly making us feel supported, comfortable, and safe.

Throughout the student lunches, we have an opportunity to get to know the hosts and have a good time together which is a weekly occurrence at MBC.

The church has encouraged me to join the praise band and lead worship and has helped develop my confidence with this. I feel supported, encouraged, and loved within this church and can happily say that I have found more than the Christian community I was looking for, I have found a church family and a home away from home.

Maghull is a home away from home, the way they welcome everyone, including all of us students into the church family is such a strength of this church. I know that whatever is happening there is always somewhere to go and someone to talk to and feel supported by. We have taken many trips as a church and it is so lovely to connect with people outside of church and uni. I know that a major part of why God led me all the way up north was because He knew that through the community at Maghull my faith would strengthen and my relationship with Him would grow and I know that Maghull has been the biggest part of that. I am so thankful to have found this church and all the amazing people that are a part of it. Even after moving universities, I am still able to be a part of the church family and be included in everything at Maghull.

“so the thing I love the most about Maghull is that when I first moved here from Northern Ireland it made me feel at home and at peace definitely made the transition to uni a lot easier because everyone was so family-friendly everyone just welcomed you into their homes and you always felt even if you felt homesick that you had a home to go to outside of it  so it definitely made things a lot easier it has grown my faith a lot.
They do a lot of stuff for students we are starting up a bible study ,we go to their houses
they are very good with the students
they make you feel very comfortable during you time at university”

The things that I love most about Maghull Baptist church is how caring they all are and how much they invest in the students. Every week the church is so welcoming and makes you feel a part of the church. Mark and Sue are so lovely and always make sure that we are looked after, they organize for us to have a free lunch every week provided by different members of the church, and they also spend time taking us on different excursions. They are amazing and make you feel a part of the church and the church family. Mark and Sue even came to the uni and met me on an open day before I joined the uni. They made me feel so at ease about coming to uni and finding a church. Even if Maghull isn't the church for you they like to help all the students. The church has helped me to grow in my faith and has made me fall in love with going to church again. The whole congregation are so loving and caring and spend time getting to know you and will offer to help you in anyway they can. There have also helped other students in the past by getting involved in the research that they are doing for their dissertations. The church really helps you to find your feet in the community and now I feel a part of a special family even when I'm away from home.
