In my first few months at Edge Hill I'd initially struggled to settle in and felt extremely homesick. But when I started going regularly to MBC I began to feel more settled at university through the love and support that the church offered to me. After the service every Sunday a member of the church provides lunch for the students, which helped create a sense of community between us and the rest of the church. Maghull Baptist church has become my home away from home. They also run a weekly student connect group every Friday, where we get to do bible study together and have a good chat (plus there's always snacks 😆). Mark and Sue are always there if you need anything!

When I first came to uni, I was nervous about finding a church and connecting with Christians away from home. I wasn't sure what to expect, but coming to Maghull Baptist Church everyone was so friendly and made me feel right at home. The church treats us as part of a family and helps us out in so many ways, from giving lifts, advice, and even providing us with lunch! We're really well looked after at MBC and it has made going away from home so much easier. I really feel like I'm part of the church and as students we've been given the opportunity to do so much in the church - even leading one of the services. MBC has provided us all with support and room to grow in our faith and there are plenty of people to go to if we have any questions.

Maghull is a home away from home, the way they welcome everyone, including all of us students into the church family is such a strength of this church. I know that whatever is happening there is always somewhere to go and someone to talk to and feel supported by. We have taken many trips as a church and it is so lovely to connect with people outside of church and uni. I know that a major part of why God led me all the way up north was because He knew that through the community at Maghull my faith would strengthen and my relationship with Him would grow and I know that Maghull has been the biggest part of that. I am so thankful to have found this church and all the amazing people that are a part of it. Even after moving universities, I am still able to be a part of the church family and be included in everything at Maghull.

The things that I love most about Maghull Baptist church is how caring they all are and how much they invest in the students. Every week the church is so welcoming and makes you feel a part of the church. Mark and Sue are so lovely and always make sure that we are looked after, they organize for us to have a free lunch every week provided by different members of the church, and they also spend time taking us on different excursions. They are amazing and make you feel a part of the church and the church family. Mark and Sue even came to the uni and met me on an open day before I joined the uni. They made me feel so at ease about coming to uni and finding a church. Even if Maghull isn't the church for you they like to help all the students. The church has helped me to grow in my faith and has made me fall in love with going to church again. The whole congregation are so loving and caring and spend time getting to know you and will offer to help you in anyway they can. There have also helped other students in the past by getting involved in the research that they are doing for their dissertations. The church really helps you to find your feet in the community and now I feel a part of a special family even when I'm away from home.

My name is Esther, and I was a student at Edge Hill University. I want to share why Maghull Baptist Church is such a special place for me.
What I love most about this church is the incredible sense of community. I have made friendships with people of all ages, from babies to those older than me. The way everyone interacts and genuinely cares for one another makes it feel like a true family. There's always someone to talk to or pray with, and it's a place where I can really grow in my faith and be part of something bigger. One of the churches main aims for the last year was outreach and being part of something so vital has been amazing.
Maghull Baptist Church also offers so many opportunities to get involved and serve and I've had the chance to take part in different areas of church life. The church also goes above and beyond to support students. They pick us up in a minibus every Sunday, and there's usually a student lunch afterward a meal that always leaves us feeling more full than we ever thought possible! Student lunch is definitely something to look forward to.
Another highlight of my week is the Student Connect Group, which is a small group for the students which helps us to grow in our faith, support each other, and just have fun. We've also gone on trips to the Lake District and enjoyed events like murder mystery nights, which have been some of the highlights of my time here.
What truly sets Maghull Baptist Church apart is how it feels like home. It has given me purpose and a sense of belonging as I navigate university life. God's presence is so strong here, and the love and support from the community are truly special.
If you're looking for a church that feels like family and encourages you to grow in your faith, I highly recommend Maghull Baptist Church.
